Yes, it's true. We're having a baby! It has been impossible to keep it a secret these last few weeks, so for those people who don't know yet, we're about 13 weeks along. Our expected due date is May 16. And, yes, we are definitely finding out the sex of the baby as soon as we can (which won't be for at least another month and a half or so).
We are both very excited, although it still seems pretty surreal to us at this point. We have seen the baby three times now, along with a tiny little flicker of a heartbeat. We just had our last appointment on November 6 and wanted to make sure everything was going well before we told everyone. According to the doctor, everything is progressing wonderfully (he used the word "perfect") and we have every hope that we'll be meeting this little guy or girl in about six months.
Above is one of the better ultrsound pictures we got on the 6th. Marc took matters into his own hands and brough the digital camera with us. The baby is now about 7 centimeters long and actually looks more like a little human being than the tadpole we saw in the other ultrasounds. We were able to see a little spine, legs, hands and even some facial features (although they're still very fuzzy). The baby is really active right now and was really moving around a lot during the ultrasound (making it somewhat difficult to get a good picture). Although the picture does not do it justice, you might be able to make out what looks like a little baby silhouette (with added graphics courtesy of Marc).
So, since we already consider ourselves to be pretty hip parents, we thought we'd start a blog of our baby's life from the very beginning. For those of you who are unfamiliar with blogs, you can submit comments by clicking on the word "comments" at the bottom of each post. We'll try to post an update every few weeks or so. Of course, we completely understand if you're not as totally captivated in hearing about every last detail as we are in telling you about it. We'll send you the link as we update it, but reading is, of course, totally optional!
Also, you might notice on the right that we've posted a link to a site called Kaboodle with some pictures of baby stuff that we like. Click on the word "Baby" at the top of the list to go to the full list on the Kaboodle site. This list is as much for us as it is for anyone looking for gift ideas--we just thought it would be a cool place to keep track of cute baby stuff we want to buy. And for all those pro parents out there, please let us know if there is anything essential that you couldn't have lived without. We are completely clueless as to what to expect and, if we were left to our own devices, our kid would just have a lot of cute stuffed animals and toys and nothing to sleep in, poop on, or eat.
And for those of you who might be wondering...although Marc and I do not share the same last name, we've decided to go with Rossi for the baby's last name. Oh, and we're taking suggestions for first names so, if you have a good one to share, we'd appreciate the input!
Here's a shot of some cute onesies that Grandma (Sharon) bought pretty much the minute after we told her we were expecting. And, no, we're not having twins. Check out the elbow pads on the boy's onesie...

I can't wait to meet this little one! You are loved, tiny baby! XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
Congratulations to us all!
I'm so surprised! Marc "did good" and totally didn't tell me about this 2 weeks ago at all.
But seriously... congrats, you two! I know this is something you have wanted for awhile, and it looks as if the planets have aligned. I suggest the birth date be May 19th, and the name be Matt, mkII (complete with comma).
So... congrats! And watch out-- I'm going to crank up the crazy for this kid in "crazy uncle Matt"!
Congratulations to Everyone!! Having babies is such a wonderful experience. I am so proud for you both. This little one is going to be as cute as a bud in a rug - look at its parents!!
Love you both!!
GG and P-Paw
I am so very excited for both of you! The ultrasound picture is absolutely amazing. Maybe Baby Rossi will be born on our son Bill's birthday, May 14th.
Oh my god ... The baby looks just like me!
I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I love you both, Marc & Amanda, and I can't wait to meet the newest member of our family.
Oh my God!!!! The baby DOES look just like his Papa! Oh well, at least the little one will be very intelligent.
Seriously, Marc and Amanda, Bettie and I could not be happier for you two. We're sure you will be super parents. You had great teachers. I just hope Grandma Sharon and Papa will let you hold your child before its first birthday..
Holy Mother of Pearl! You mean I'm going to be an AUNT??? Why didn't anybody TELL me? :-)
I am going to be the best aunt that ever lived (no offense to Aunt J).
PS I just ran around my office yelling, "I'm an aunt! I'm an aunt!" Unfortunately, I work with a bunch of nerds, and I then had to specify to everyone that I was talking about babies and not insects. No, I'm not kidding.
What a wonderful picture of your sweet baby! It is unbelievably exciting to see Rossi Baby at such an early stage. I can't wait to see more.
As a friend (and someone who likes to shop) I would like to thank you for your willingness to learn the gender before delivery. It will be a lot of fun to help you stock the baby's nursery and closet.
It would be great if you could include an Italian name as first or middle. What's the name of the town where you met? Maybe there could be a spin off on the name of the city? Something symbolic, special, and Italian?
Congratulations to both of you! I look forward to new blog entries.
Hooray, what a special little one we will have in the family! We can't wait to meet our newest cousin and we're soooo happy for you both, you will be absolutely awesome parents! What a lucky little person who's coming into the world! Hooray to us doing this together, Amanda, and Go Team Rossi for the Rossi cousins who happened to knock their wives up on the same day! Hee-hee!
Absolutely wonderful!! I am so excited for you both!! Keely can finally have a little cousin to love. No worries about raising him/her, they pretty much raise themselves! just kidding I would love to help anyway I can.
Love,
Aunt Jennifer & Uncle Jason and Cousin Keely
I really need to check my email more frequently. Congrats! I am so happy for you and wish you all the best.
I can't wait to hold that little one! I know it won't be until it is five years old with all the people already lined up. Maybe you could put me on the cancellation list? I will come at a moments notice. Just call.
Love you guys!
Gail
